Smart Route tab settings:

Smart Route allows a clients to quickly build their school routes using a combination of mapping and clustering student addresses and google travel data.

Smart Route is not only an efficient way to build your routes but it will help you evaluate route transit times and costings.

Below is a guide to assist you with the process.

1. Students have been given a Status of Bus Traveller or not. If the student is deemed a Bus Traveller then they will be mapped in Smart Route. The tick box can be found in the Settings->Students, if you would like to CSV load your Student file please contact us for the appropriate CSV template.

2. Additional elements of the system have had a “In Smart Route” status added. These elements are:

  • Routes
  • Stops
Note clicking them in or out of smart route does not change their current status in the live transport operation.
This allows the client to decide if they would like see the current stops or routes in the Smart Route.

3. We have mapped the students and stops using the following icons. All the icons cluster and un-cluster as you zoom in and out.

 Several houses in one area with at least one student living in each house;

 Single house with 2 students living in the house;

Several stops clustered with no students assigned;

Single stop with no students assigned. Note the stop will have the colour assigned to it in the route module;

 Routes can be added to the system from within the Smart Route module;

 Stops can be deleted from the route in Smart Route and alternatively added from the list of stops on the left hand side of the screen but drag and drop;

 Routes that are included in Smart Route will display the following headings and by default show the route stops that are currently assigned to the route;

The number off students assigned to the route;

The seat capacity assigned to the route;

 The travel time calculated by Google Travel (Heavy Vehicle) for the route with the stops and campus assigned to the route;

The fare revenue that will be raised by the assigned route once the students have been allocated. If you require more information on how to set up zone fares please contact us;

 By clicking this button the students will be allocated to the closest bus stop to their home. The system uses the Google Travel (walking) shortest distance from the student house to bus stop logic;

After the Allocate button has been clicked and confirmed the students are allocated to stops and bus if the stops are allocated to the route, Students can be shifted from one stop to another by drag and drop from stop  to stop;

The students are allocated to the route and at a stop level Smart Route calculates the travel time from the previous stop to the current stop  , The boarding time at the stop , note 30 seconds per  student has been assigned in the system and the progressive cumulative route travel and boarding time ;

The route level data that also captures the fare charges for the proposed route , note for the example given 1 cent has been assigned to each travel zone;

Print function - prints route details, statistics and route map;

 Click on the house icon to see the details of the student who lives at the address;

 Click on the Stop in the route to highlight the houses of the students that are assigned to the stop;

 You can save your route planning or overwrite a previous version;
