To ensure smooth transport operations throughout the year, build a "perfect day" in the transport screen that can be copied over to the rest of the academic year. Here's how to craft your ideal day:
Steps to Building the Perfect Day
1. Choose a Day Without Disruptions:
- Select a date with no public holidays, school camps, or special events. The best days are typically midweek, such as Tuesday to Thursday, when student attendance is consistent.
2. Optimise Routes to create the Ideal Travel:
- If your routes are currently good, select a day in the past that reflects this setup.
- If the routes need improvement, create a "perfect" day in the transport screen by adjusting and refining a future day.
- Build routes that reflect your optimal setup, ensuring all students are booked according to their typical travel patterns.
- Pay attention to split-week schedules and custom travel plans that may require special configurations.
- Select a day in the future with student bookings that will remain untouched, such as 25/12/2024.
- Using the Transport Screen editing capabilities, adjust and/or add student bookings to create the most accurate day of student booking data.
3. Review Before Rolling Over:
- Ensure that the selected day meets all transport needs and that there are no errors in bookings or route configurations.
- Tip: Use the transport screen review as your final check before committing to the rollover process.
Steps Advantages of Creating the Perfect Day
- Consistency: Ensures that every day in the year will follow the same optimised plan, reducing errors and confusion.
- Efficiency: Saves time by creating a template that can be applied to all days, rather than adjusting routes manually each time.
- Accuracy: A perfect day eliminates the need for excessive post-rollover cleanups or adjustments.
