Troubleshoot - Student Card Scan not working

Modified on Wed, 21 May at 12:05 PM

If an audible beep is heard when the student taps their card on a valid route, the card is sending a code to the RollCall device. If the student scan is not registered on the device (Blue for ON, Grey/Purple for OFF) then the driver should check for an error message and report it back to the admin team.

The most common reasons for the card to beep without registering the student are:

  • The student record is inactive.
  • The card code is no longer allocated to the student record (card replaced) and the student needs to use their most recently issued card once the card codes have been updated.
  • The student has tapped too quickly after another student and the system is still processing a previous scan. Resolve this by waiting and try the scan again.
  • The Student is not allocated to the bus and the driver needs to respond to the confirm that they will allow them on to the bus before their name is added to the manifest. This confirmation message can be switched off if the drivers aren't required to confirm not allocated travellers.
