Driver Device Features and Functions

Modified on Mon, 22 Sep at 1:18 PM

OVERVIEW

The RollCall Driver device is designed to be easy for drivers to use while capturing student transport activity during a route.

NOTE: RollCall prioritises driver safety. The device requires no interaction while the vehicle is moving. All functions are only available when the bus is safely parked with doors open for student boarding or departure.

MANIFEST:

The Manifest displays the student name under their booked stop. By default, only those stops with students allocated are shown on the driver device.

Student names are colour coded dependent on their status:

  •   WHITE  - Student is booked, but not yet scanned on.
  •   BLUE    - Student scanned ON the Bus.
  •    GREY   - Student scanned OFF the bus.
  •    PURPLE   - (optional) - Student scanned OFF the bus but is below the nominated year level and may require special supervision (e.g. must be met by a guardian).

BULK OFF: (AM routes and Excursions)

This feature gives the driver the option to Bulk Scan OFF the the students at the end of their AM route (or excursions).

Tap the purple "Bulk Scan Off" bottom right hand corner and select "Confirm Bulk Scan".

Access to Bulk Off is controlled by the School's RollCall Admin user and is typically only turned on for AM routes, or Excursions where students all travel to a single location.

MANUALLY SCAN A STUDENT:

If a student can’t scan their Bus Tag or Student Card, the driver can tap the luggage tag icon next to their name to mark them On or Off the bus.

Tap the "tag" icon and select "Scan" to manually scan the student or "Cancel" if required. This is the same process for manually registering students ON and OFF the bus

ADD A NOT-ALLOCATED STUDENT:

Students not allocated to the route can only board by scanning their RollCall Tag or RFID Card. If "Not Allocated Warning" is enabled, the driver will see a message to confirm.

  • Yes → student is added as No Stop Allocated.

  • No → student is not added and should not board.

This warning helps drivers manage seat capacity, giving priority to allocated students.

REPORT BEHAVIOUR / SICK NO TRAVEL / VIEW STUDNET NOTES: (Optional)

If enabled by the school admin:

  • Behaviour / Sick No Travel: Tap the exclamation mark next to the student’s name → select Report Behaviour  or Mark as Sick → enter PIN to confirm.

  • Student Information: If notes have been added when tapping the exclamation mark → the Student notes will display.

NOTE: This is not for manually scanning a student (e.g. "No Card").
Behaviour/Sick notes have no text fields — submitting one simply alerts the school and parent that the student had a behaviour issue or was marked sick on the bus.
