Driver Device Daily Operation on Biteable.
SWITCHING ON THE DEVICE
- PRESS the power button on the right hand side of the unit
- WAIT for the device to power up and display the Rollcall logo tap the Rollcall logo
- CHECK for active mobile data service
- CHECK Battery percentage (connect to power charging immediately if below 30%)
IMPORTANT: Low battery is the number one reason that the RollCall device fails to start up or function correctly. Mobile devices are designed to automatically shutdown functionality like Mobile data, GPS tracking and NFC reader capabilities to preserve battery life. Attempting to operate the RollCall device with low battery will likely result in issues.
LOGIN AND START YOUR ROUTE
- SELECT the RollCall APP logo
- LOGIN using YOUR phone number and pin issued by your admin team.
- SELECT YOUR route from the list then tap OK to confirm OR CANCEL to change your route selection
- CHECK that your route name is shown correctly at the top of screen
- CHECK your student manifest and stops
- CHECK that the GPS has fixed on your location. A warning appears at the top of screen advising you to wait if this has not been successful
IMPORTANT: The system is designed for the device to be logged into a route only when the route is in operation. Problems with activity recording and fare charging will occur if you log in to your route TOO EARLY and then transit any part of the intended route while the route GPS tracking is operational.
(OPTIONAL) VIEW STOP LOCATIONS
CHANGE ROUTE SELECTION
- SELECT the Menu bar in the top left of screen
- SELECT Change route option
- SELECT YOUR route from the list then tap OK to confirm OR CANCEL to change your route selection
- CHECK that your route name is shown correctly at the top of screen
- CHECK your student manifest and stops
- CHECK that the GPS has fixed on your location. A warning appears at the top of screen advising you to wait if this has not been successful
SCANNING STUDENTS
- WATCH the device to ensure students are registered (BLUE=ON, GREY/PURPLE= OFF) when they tap on with their card or tag.
- MANUALLY REGISTER any student that does not have a working card/tag (Same process for ON and OFF)
- TAP the baggage tag icon next to the student name
- CONFIRM the manual registration (if required to confirm).
- CORRECT any mistake by tapping the studnet off again or cancelling during confirmation
- CHECK your counters regularly to ensure all passengers are registered on the RollCall device
IMPORTANT: Failing to register students that are travelling in your vehicle has consequences for both student safety and fare collection (if applicable). Please ensure you are following your operational policies in relation to registering all students OR reporting student complicance or device issues which prevent student registration

ENDING YOUR ROUTE AND LOGGING OUT
- CHECK that your "CURRENT" counter = 0 (Indicating ALL students are marked as OFF bus)
- CHECK that you are in a location with sufficient mobile data coverage so that data can be trasnmitted.
- CONFIRM your route is complete. This message appears automatically when the current counter returns to 0
- CONFIRM you want to logout. This will only appear if a Bus Guardian check is not required
- (OPTIONAL) DO your Bus Guardian Check. Refer to the Bus Guardian User Guide for Drivers (PDF)for instructions
- REMOVE the device from the cradle
- WALK to the back of the bus checking for students
- TAP the back of the device on the DRIVER CHECK SCAN card or token
- WAIT for the Bus Check Icon to appear at the top of the student manifest
- SELECT the Menu bar in the top left of screen
- SELECT Logout
- WAIT for 30-60 seconds to ensure all mobile data has finished transmitting back to the host system
- PRESS the power button
- SELECT Power Off
- STORE the RollCall device. Refer to Caring for your RollCall Driver Device or your operational procedures.
