OVERVIEW
Taking care of your smart phone is a common part of day to day life, and taking care of the RollCall Driver Device follows these same principles. In this guide we offer advice on how to ensure you get the longest possible life from your RollCall device. We recommend providing this information when inducting drivers and incorporating it into your bus operation policies.
1. GENERAL CARE AND HANDLING
Handle with care
Ensure careful handling when docking or removing devices from the cradle. Use a cradle with padding to prevent scratches.
Avoid Moisture and Dust
Regularly clean devices and cradles with a dry cloth. Avoid exposure to moisture and dust to prevent internal damage.
Regular Inspections
Conduct periodic inspections for wear and tear, battery swelling, and clean connectors to maintain functionality and prolong device life.
2. STORAGE AND THEFT PROTECTION
Secure Storage
Whether storing the device inside the vehicle, ensure it is out of sight and use a lockable compartment, if available, to protect against theft. When storing inside the vehicle, provide a padded pouch (pencil case or similar) for added protection from heat/cold and knocks or scratches to the device.
Remove Devices
If possible and deemed safer to do so, remove the device when the vehicle is left unattended.
Training
Conduct regular training on security best practices and device safety importance.
IMMEDIATELY REPORT LOSS OR THEFT OF ANY ROLLCALL DRIVER DEVICE TO ROLLCALL SUPPORT BY CALLING 1300 821 116.
The RollCall device and the SIM card remain the property of RollCall at all times. Mobile devices are often stolen for the removal of the SIM card and if we are unaware of the loss or theft, then we are unable to stop the theft of data. Data theft can amount to a considerable cost and any cost incurred by RollCall in the event of us not being notified of a theft or loss may be charged back to the client
3. BATTERY CARE
Operating the device in a manner that protects and prolongs the life of the battery is crucial to maintaining the function necessary to operate the RollCall system.
