Which import option should I use?
Create new records only → Use Add New Students
Replace all data for matched students → Use Full Update
Update selected fields only → Use Partial Update
If you are updating existing students and are unsure, use Partial Update.
What is the difference between Full Update and Partial Update?
Full Update
Replaces all fields for matched students
Empty cells will clear existing data
Partial Update
Updates only the fields you select
Fields not selected remain unchanged
What is RC ID and when is it required?
RC ID is the unique RollCall student identifier.
It is required for:
Full Update
Partial Update
It is not required when creating new students.
What happens if I don’t remove the second row in the template?
The second row explains the required data format (e.g. string, integer).
If you leave it in the file, the import will fail validation.
Always delete this row before saving your CSV.
Can I undo an import?
No. Imports cannot be reversed automatically.
Always review your file carefully before confirming.
Why did some data clear after my import?
This usually happens when:
Using Full Update, which replaces all fields
Leaving cells blank in Full Update or Partial Update
Blank cells may clear existing data.
Can I update parents using this tool?
Yes. The same process applies to Student and Parent imports.
Can I test with one record first?
Yes. You can upload a small file with one record to confirm the outcome before importing larger batches.
What happens if there are errors in my file?
The system will:
Flag validation errors
Show which rows need review
Prevent import until errors are resolved
You can fix your CSV and re-upload.
Can I remove rows before importing?
Yes. On the review screen, you can:
Select specific rows
Click Remove selected rows
Then proceed with the remaining records
