Tiny Wins release
Small things, fixed.
Two releases went out tonight. A day's worth of paper cuts across the admin console, and version 4.0.3 of the Parent App.

Tiny Wins Day
On 13 August the whole team stopped for a day and did nothing but fix the small things. Not the big features on the roadmap, the paper cuts. The setting with a confusing name, the screen that forgets where you were, the list you cannot filter. Everyone brought the annoyances they hear about most, and we built them.
Transport screen
Your route stays selected
Change the date or pop over to another screen, and the route you were watching stays selected. There is a new Today button to jump straight back to the current date. If your route does not run on the date you have picked, the screen tells you rather than quietly moving you to a different bus.
Route settings
Filter the route list
Filter by event group, event type, and vehicle capacity, on top of the search and Active checkbox you already have. If you run multiple campuses or a long list of AM, PM, and excursion routes, finding the one you want no longer means scrolling.
Route settings and route creation
A warning before you turn on Multiple Drivers
Multiple Drivers is built for excursions and big events, where several drivers run one route at once. It also turns live tracking off, which catches schools out when they switch it on for an everyday AM or PM run.
You now get a plain confirmation that says what happens, and you tick to acknowledge it before the change sticks. Turning it off never asks.
Event groups
“In Portal” is now “Visible to Parents”
The setting does exactly what the new name says. The old label was our internal wording and it should never have reached your screen.
Route maps
Stop details open on click, not hover
Hovering over a stop used to pop up its details and cover the stops next to it. Click to open, click away to close, and clustered maps are workable again.
Parent action screen
Uses the width you have
On larger displays the panel now widens instead of sitting narrow with space either side. Small screens are unchanged.
Live today4.0.3
Parent App
This one is mostly the live map, and mostly things parents told us themselves through App Store reviews and your support tickets.
Live map
You can zoom the map again
The map was following the bus so tightly that it fought your fingers, snapping the camera back every time a parent pinched or panned. Now a gesture releases follow mode and the map holds the zoom. It also stops widening out on its own every time fresh live data arrives.
The map keeps up
Parents with two children travelling on different buses, where one is on a service that is not their allocated bus, now see the map update properly when they switch between them. Live data also refreshes the moment the app is reopened from the background, rather than showing where the bus was when they last looked.
“Scheduled Arrival” is now “Timetabled Arrival”
Parents were reading “scheduled” as a live estimate and wondering why it did not move when the bus ran late. It is the published timetable time, so it now says so.
Large text no longer traps the bottom sheet
Parents using bigger accessibility text sizes could get the map's bottom sheet stuck at the base of the screen. It moves properly now.
Bookings and absences
The prompt to contact the school is back
Reporting a bus absence in the app does not always tell the school a child is away. If your school has an absence reporting method configured, parents now see the follow-up prompt after they submit, telling them to call, email, or fill in your form, the same as the old app did.
Bookings respect your rules
A short-term change can no longer push a bus past its configured capacity, and a route that drops back under capacity no longer stays stuck showing as full. Long-term bookings no longer appear before your parent booking window opens.
Full bus and stop names
Booking screens show the complete bus and stop names instead of truncating them.
Signing in, and Android
SSO no longer sticks on “Connecting”
Parents signing in with your school's single sign-on were getting stuck on the Connecting screen even after their credentials went through. Fixed.
Android map pins stay visible
Selecting a stop during a bus change made every pin vanish from the map on Android, while iOS behaved correctly. Android now matches.
Parents will get 4.0.3 through the App Store and Google Play with their usual app updates. Nothing is needed from your team.
