Rollover Step 1: Hardware

Modified on Thu, 31 Oct at 10:24 AM

As the first and foundational step in the 2025 Rollover process, ensuring that your school has the required hardware in place is crucial. This step covers the ordering of any new RollCall scan media and devices that may be required for the upcoming academic year. Proper hardware ensures a smooth operational flow for attendance tracking and data capture in the RollCall system.

Key Benefits

Having up-to-date and functional RollCall hardware is essential for several reasons:

  • Seamless Attendance Tracking: Ensure that every student has the required scan media to be quickly and accurately logged into the system.
  • Data Accuracy: New hardware helps reduce errors that may arise from outdated or malfunctioning devices, ensuring the data collected is reliable.
  • Scalability: With changes in student numbers or new bus routes, additional hardware may be required to handle the increased capacity.

Types of RollCall Hardware

Scan Media

  • RollCall Branded Tags: generic NFC tokens with the RollCall logo
  • Custom Branded Tags: NFC tokens customised with your school logo
  • Retractable Lanyard: allows students to attach their NFC token to their school bag

Hardware

  • NFC Extender: an extension device that enables media scanning at a distance from the Driver Device

Steps for Hardware

When you open the Rollover dashboard, you will be directed to Step 1: Hardware. This step ensures that you have all the necessary scan media and devices for the upcoming academic year.

1. Answer the Question: "Do you need more tags?"

  • If you select Yes, you will be redirected to the RollCall Marketplace webpage where you can place an order for any new scan media.
  • If you select No, the system will proceed to the next step without any further action.

2. Answer the Question: "Do you need more devices?"

  • If you select Yes, your response will be recorded, and a representative from RollCall will reach out to gather more details.

  • If you select No, the system will proceed to the next step, indicating that no additional devices are needed.
